The Congress of Racial Equality
http://www.core-online.org/history/history.htm
This site is a wealth of information on some of the major events and prominent people in the pre-Civil Rights era. All the content is easily linked from everywhere within the site, and students will be attracted to the flash presence in the design of the site. This is a great site to learn about the non-violent efforts of this organization, and their place in history.

CORE
http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/society/a0813227.htm
The site is an "encyclopedia type reference" that details the founding of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and the subsequent efforts and function of the organization since its inception in 1942. The site is "packed" with information and is a "reference section at your fingertips." While the content is 'dry" and links to "other civil rights events is limited," the student and teacher resources make this a good site and a "great place to have bookmarked."
