This site provides a "definitive account" of disfranchisement and the struggle of Blacks to gain political access in Virginia. While the content is detailed for Virginia, events addressed parallel events in the entire United States and "captures the essence" of the struggle for political access. The site includes valuable resources such as letters, minutes of meetings, photographs, and graphics, which can enhance classroom instruction. There are numerous links provided to extend research of the topic. The site provides a "valuable model for the study of disenfranchisement anywhere."
